Resources
Session 1: WEDNESDAY 18 AUGUST 12.00 till 12.30pm
Session 2: WEDNESDAY 25 AUGUST 12.00 till 12.30pm
We are offering two ‘bite-size’ sessions aimed at primary care providers who want to hear about the Nursing Associate training programme, how this can be used to attract new staff or support and develop the existing workforce, and the benefits the role can bring to primary care settings.
About the sessions
Nursing Associates (NAs) are registered practitioners that bridge the gap between healthcare support workers and registered nurses. Trainee Nursing Associates (TNAs) are trained to deliver hands-on, person-centered care to patients of all ages and in a range of health and social care settings. The training is delivered through an apprenticeship which provides an ideal opportunity for employers to upskill and develop their existing staff or bring new recruits into the workforce.
The sessions are aimed at practice managers or those involved in training and development within primary care who are looking to take on a TNA. Each session will last for 30 minutes and include an opportunity to ask questions.
Session 1 will include:
What is a Nursing associate?
How the role is different from an HCSW or registered nurse
The benefits NAs can bring to primary care
The processes involved to train someone
Session 2 will cover:
The funding available to support employers
Outline of a typical training programme
Things for your service to consider ie, supervision, practice placements, etc.
Who should attend?
The sessions are aimed at practice managers, or those who lead on training and development within primary care services who are looking to introduce TNAs but want to know more about the training involved, the financial support available, and any practical considerations.
