There are many free courses to help support your own personal development. There are courses on offer at a variety of different levels so there is something for everyone. These include courses to develop skills in literacy or numeracy, either in preparation for an apprenticeship or to become more confident in using language or working with numbers, either for work or personal development. Other free courses are available to anyone looking to increase their employability, gain new knowledge or prepare for study. Perhaps you're looking to move into another sector, retrain for employment, increase confidence in digital learning, gain study skills, or want to learn more about a subject that’s important to you.

BKSB - the free functional skills online tool funded by HEE   

From BKSB: bksb has partnered with Health Education England to give 1-year of access to bksb for free. This is available to all NHS trusts, community, primary and social care employers to:

  • Help prepare employees who would like to take a functional skills qualification e.g. for an apprenticeship. This platform will not provide the examination or qualification itself, but the examination can be taken at a local college or FE provider.

  • General upskilling and gaining confidence around learning.

  • It can also be used by employers to do a skills analysis of a group to inform workforce planning.
